Life Coach Spotlight: Cat H. Bradley
Get to know life coach Cat H. Bradley and how life coaching has transformed her life and how she wants to help others transform theirs and achieve goals.
Coach Spotlight is our chance to shine a light on some of the amazing graduates of the Lumia Coach Training program!
Name: Cat H. Bradley
I’m Cat H. Bradley--a Brooklyn girl born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan (Go Blue!). I’m a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) and near daily practitioner of the 26&2 method (sometimes formerly but still mostly known as Bikram Yoga).
I’m also a writer, a marathoner, and a Lumia certified Life Coach who specializes in working with athletes and athlete minded people. (Don’t think you’re either of these? Read on, we definitely need to work together!)
I grew up in a family that valued athletics as much as academics. I was raised with the understanding that sport could help harness the discipline, work ethic, and even intellectual development needed for every stage of life.
As a competitive volleyball and basketball player in my youth, I learned that I could accomplish more when I worked with others, and that being a part of a team was nourishing, uplifting, and esteem building in a way that few other things are.
As an adult athlete with a focus on yoga and running, I’ve come to understand the necessity and vitality of MOVEMENT—how it is the bridge that connects our mind and our spirit and allows for the integration of all parts of our self.
I’ve experienced first hand, more than once, the power that is cultivated when discipline and perseverance meet real gratification, awareness, and love. When you put in the work, create with consciousness, and have true passion for what you’re doing, anything is possible.
I believe willingness, vulnerability, connection, and gratitude are the keys to a life of freedom and joy. If we dare to add curiosity and discipline to these, we unlock our full tool-chest and are able to access and engage our complete strength.
Our capacity to change the world and ourselves is greater than you might be able to imagine. I am here because I envision that possibility--I see it already, for others, and for myself. All of the ignorance and revelation, failure and redemption, and heartbreak and elation I’ve experienced so far in this life have emboldened me.
Humbly, I am here to help nurture the soul, ignite the mind, and light the path for the ones that may be great.
The light in me honors the light in you.
1. What was your biggest takeaway from Lumia Coach Training?
My biggest takeaway from the intensive was sort of this striking duality. I felt this enormous sense of power and purpose in finally understanding that I was the only one with my exact story and that my story was an asset, one with the potential to help others and really broaden my world as I connect to more people. So the intensive gave me this great feeling that I was unique and that i had something special to share.
At the same time, it demonstrated over and over again that I am at my fullest strength as an individual when I join together with others.
There is REAL power in community and in connecting with others-- listening to them, helping them achieve their goals, collaborating to accomplish things together. We are stronger with each other than we are apart. I felt that every Sunday with my other coaching classmates, and I feel it now with every client I work with. It's a great, humbling, grounding feeling and understanding that I never plan on letting go of!
2. How did you transform personally during the Lumia Coaching program?
I had an intuition I should get a life coaching certification. I found Lumia, I vibed with what they were putting out there, and I signed up. I had a ton of doubts. I had questions. What I was choosing didn't seem logical. It didn't make sense in my head, but it did in my heart.
After the intensive I worked with one of my fellow coaches for a while. He helped me make another decision that made sense in my heart but not in my head. I went to a yoga teacher training. Now I am teaching yoga and coaching full time.
So I guess I'd say how I've transformed is that I've become a person who believes in their intuition as the truth, and that has become the core of who I am as a coach and the basis for how I work with others.
If you haven't followed your gut before, give it a try. When you quiet all the fearful chatter in your head and follow your heart, the fruits of it can make you see the whole world differently. It's made me believe in something much greater than myself. (And if you can't follow your gut bc you can't hear it, you can't quiet that chatter, well then that's where I come in! ;))
3. How are you practicing coaching today?
I am currently coaching clients through video chat. I work specifically with clients who are into moving their bodies--so athletes and athletically minded people interested in the integration of their mind, body, and spirit.
4. From a business perspective: what did you gain from completing the Lumia Coaching program?
Business-wise, I would say I gained the most from sessions w/Linzi Hawkin on entrepreneurship. My biggest takeaway from her was quality over quantity. It's easy to get wrapped up in social media crap. She made it clear from the beginning that she knew plenty of people with tons of followers who weren't making shit for money.
She helped me narrow down my niche and got me to focus not on likes or followers or any other attention that might feed my ego, but rather finding my voice and using it to reach out to MY people, the ones that have a need and desire for what i have to offer.
5. What would you say to someone who's interested in taking the program?
To someone interested in taking the program I would say "Go with your Gut!" If you have a call with someone from Team Lumia and your heart gets pumping and you start getting that "this feels right" feeling, don't question it. Just jump in.
Honestly, it doesn't matter what I say or what my experience was--you're going to have your own, and there's so much for you to gain that you can't even imagine. The getting is in the doing. You've got to sign up. You've got to be there. You've got to commit and put in the work. Once you're in, it's a ride. It's unbelievably exciting to see where it can take you.
6. Anything else you'd like to mention about yourself or the program?
I love Lumia as a program, and I love it as a community. I'm proud and confident in my training. I'm growing right now as a coach, a teacher, a wife, an athlete, and an entrepreneur, and all my efforts as an individual would be half as fruitful if it weren't for all the loving support around me. Grateful to other coaches and teachers who continue to guide me, love me, and bulldoze their own paths so I can see how it's done!
